By Michael Russell By your third anniversary, you've gotten a couple years under your belt and you're actually starting to get comfortable living with each other. That's a good thing, because anniversary gift ideas for this year are the hardest so far. Traditional is leather and modern is crystal. So if you're a little stumped, have no fear. This article should give you all the ammunition you'll need to get your spouse a really dynamite gift for anniversary number three. Leather can be a little tough to think of things, at least right off the top of your head. Leather is also very expensive, so be prepared to open up the wallet real wide on this one. And of course, crystal isn't much better, if at all. A good piece of crystal can cost a pretty penny. Well, that's why as the years move along the price tags of the gifts keep going up. So, what kind of leather item do you get for your spouse on this special day? Nancy Sinatra sang a song called "These Boots Are Made For Walking". Women love a nice pair of leather boots, especially in the winter time. So why not? Just make sure you know what her shoe size is before you run out and get a pair. Of course, if you're worried about getting a pair of boots, or shoes for that matter, that will turn your wife's feet into a podiatrist's nightmare, you might want to stick to something a little more simple like a leather handbag. Women can't get enough handbags, as they have to have one for every outfit. Just make sure you pick a color that goes with at least one of her outfits. For the guy, if he is a businessman, nothing will be more appreciated that a brand new leather briefcase. It is important to know just how much stuff he carries around with him so you get one that will be big enough to hold all his essentials. Of course, if he's the kind of guy who wants to be reminded of work as little as possible, you might want to get him a nice new leather belt for his pants. Make sure you measure the loops in his pants so you don't get a belt that is too wide. A gift that goes well for both men and women, especially if they both do a lot of traveling, is leather luggage. You can even have his and her names engraved on the pieces so that when you go away together you'll know which piece belongs to whom. Of course, if you want to go modern instead of traditional, crystal is something that women will probably go for more than men will. So gals, stick to the leather. Men, you might want to snoop around the house and see what crystal pieces are already there before you go out shopping. Please remember, crystal is very delicate, so you're not going to get something that's going to be used for heavy duty use. Most likely, you'll want to get something that is a good display piece or something like a crystal candy dish. There are more than just the above items, but this should give you a good head start to finding just the right anniversary gift for number three. How to Make Paella
By Robert K. Carlton The best known Spanish dish is Paella. It originated in the Valencia region of Spain, but has since spread and become popular throughout the world. As a basic peasant dish, it used whatever meats, vegetables and seafood were around, and so there are many variations of this dish.
If you want to make an authentic Paella, you should use a Paella pan, which is a large, round, shallow pan. These can be found in any kitchen store and most department stores. Originally it was cooked on an open flame, but of course today we use the stove top. Despite the variations, paella cannot be considered paella without the three main ingredients: rice, olive oil and saffron. As long as those three are included, you can add whatever kinds of meat, vegetables and seafood you want. The meat and vegetables are sauteed in olive oil in the paella pan, and then the rice is added. Liquid stock is then poured in and the whole mixture is brought to a boil. When the rice is soft and flaky, the pan is taken off the heat and let to stand so all of the liquid is absorbed. When this traditional dish was developed in Valencia, it mostly consisted of meat, whichever kind of meat was available such as beef, rabbit or duck. In the coast areas, seafood was added because that was most abundant. The only constant ingredients that make it Valencia Paella is rice, oil and saffron. Paella has become a traditional Sunday dinner to be shared with friends and family. From Valencia, paella traveled to areas settled by the Spanish such as the Philippines and the Americas. Visitors to Spain also brought this recipe home if they enjoyed on a vacation there. The more the dish spread, the more variations were invented. It also started to become a fancy dish instead of holding its peasant roots. Throughout Spain, you will find interesting variations. Shellfish is a frequent ingredient as you get closer to the coast, but you will find lobster, mussels as well as meats such as rabbit in paella.
If a Spanish family was going to make paella for a crowd, they would use a gigantic paella pan. This would typically happen at a festival or party, and the large pan would be placed over an open flame outdoors. Valencians take their paella seriously and compete with the recipes. Once the paella is cooked over the open flame, it is placed so that all of the guests can take their share. Red or white wine accompanies this dish, depending on whether it is a meat or seafood paella. The best thing about paella is the leftovers! When the tastes of the many ingredients meld together, the dish gets even better. If you are going to travel in Spain, be sure to taste the paellas of different regions and get the recipe for your favorite one. The magazine writer Robert Carlton is very excited about news dealing with Spain and cooking. With his detailed writings on Spain and paella the author improved his knowledge in the field. Lampwork Beads: From Molten Glass to Wearable Art
By Lorraine Allan My devotion to glass is insatiable, its molten state has an almost hypnotic effect on me. From a solid strip of glass on a hot flame, it becomes molten in front of your eyes and can then be manipulated by the artist to produce a beautiful intriguing lampwork bead. The bead may then become an integral part of a piece of jewellery, worn proudly for many years and passed down as a heirloom for generations to come. It has been recorded in history the earliest form of glass beads discovered were
made around 3000bc. These beads were used mainly for trade. In the late 1200s
Venice became the major city for bead artists when the production was moved to
the island of Murano. Lampwork beads were made directly from a furnace. A mandrel (wire) was dipped
into the crucible of molten glass and wound around the mandrel. Further progress
was made by the Venetians who used an oil lamp connected to bellows. The
pumping of the bellows added oxygen to the flame in order to increase the heat
sufficiently to melt a glass rod which would be wrapped around a mandrel to form
the bead. Today, as a lampwork artist my method of making glass beads does not differ
greatly from the 1500s. There is no longer the need to pump bellows to gain the
desired heat, instead a bench burner is attached to a source of both gas and
oxygen. These fuels mixed together produce a very hot flame in which the glass is
melted and wrapped around a stainless steel mandrel coated with a bead release to
prevent the bead from sticking. The intricate designs seen on many lampwork beads are made in a variety of
methods. A great deal of decoration is created by pulling a thin thread of molten
glass called a stringer. The stringer is then added to the bead whilst in the flame in
dots or lines to form many different patterns. There are quite a few major manufacturers producing glass rods specifically for
lampworking. It is very important that the glass used in a bead is of the same coe -
coefficient of expansion. This means the glass must be compatible with one
another so that they expand and contract at the same rate, if not, cracking will
occur. In many cases 2 glasses from different manufacturers or even the same
manufacturer may not be compatible. My lampwork techniques are a little different
in that I prefer to use compatible sheet glass which I cut into strips. This source
allows me to work with a wider colour palette. Some amazing effects can be experienced with the inclusion of fine silver wire.
When added between 2 layers of glass the silver will often result in a gold colour,
whilst on the surface will retain its silver effect. Leafs or foils of silver, gold,
palladium and copper also add to the uniqueness of a lampwork bead. A new
design can be discovered every day along with different shapes and intriguing
sculptures. The durability of a lampwork bead is often a question asked, after all it is made
from glass. All lampwork beads with no exception should be put through an
annealing cycle immediately after it is taken out of the open flame. This is achieved
by placing the bead into a preheated kiln at approximately 530c/985f , this
temperature may alter slightly according to the type of glass used. My beads
remain in the kiln until I have completed creating for the day (approx. 7 hours), left
at that temperature for another hour, then switched off where my well insulated kiln
will slowly reduce the temperature over the next 9 - 12 hours. The annealing
process eliminates any stresses in the bead to give it a more stable condition. Lampwork beads are miniature canvasses of art. They are a conversation piece that
will always fascinate. Lampwork beads are meant to be touched and admired as
wearable art, a focal point of an item or showcased as a collectors specimen. Lorraine Allan has been a lampwork artist since 1997 and has been working with
glass as her medium for over 20 years. For more information visit her website at

Breakfast and Weight Loss
By Scott Haywood Some people think that skipping breakfast will help them lose weight. It won't. Studies show a direct link between breakfast and successful weight loss, and that compared to breakfast skippers, breakfast eaters generally: Eat fewer calories throughout the day
Eat less saturated fat and cholesterol
Have better nutrition habits
Weigh less (women 4 kilograms (10 pounds) less, men 3 kilograms (7 pounds)less. The key to successful Weight Loss. The key to successful weight loss is burning more calories than we consume each day. Our body burns calories 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. How quickly we burn those calories is called our metabolic rate. Our individual metabolic rates change throughout the day and night, depending upon things like when we last ate and whether we are active or at rest. Even though we burn calories while we are asleep, our metabolic rate slows dramatically during this time and we burn fewer calories per hour as a result. (Now before you go planning to give up sleep to lose weight, which is definitely not the answer, let us tell you a better way). The way to maximize the number of calories we burn each day is not to stay awake longer but to maximize our metabolic rate while we are awake. This is where eating breakfast comes in. Why breakfast is so important to Weight Loss. One of the secrets to successful weight loss is to kick-start our metabolism as soon as possible after we wake. The best way to do that is to eat breakfast. In fact, nothing, including exercise, gets our metabolism going as fast again after eight hours of restful sleep than eating a healthy breakfast! When we skip breakfast, not only does our metabolic rate stay low, so too does our blood sugar level. Low blood sugar levels resulting from missing breakfast often leads us to feel lethargic and of having less energy. Low blood sugar levels in the morning eventually make us feel very hungry later on, which sets us up to impulsive snack eating, or eating overly large portions of food at lunch and dinner. When we eat breakfast, our body feels nourished and satisfied, making us far less likely to overeat during the rest of the day. Common reasons for missing Breakfast The most common reason that people skip breakfast are: No Time I like to exercise in the morning instead Im not hungry when I wake up I just cant stomach food first thing in the morning Heres what to do if you if either one of these causes you to miss breakfast regularly: "No time" is no excuse Time is at a premium for most of us. Nevertheless, it pays to make time for what is undoubtedly the most important weight loss meal of the day. If time is a real issue for you and you only have a few minutes for breakfast in the mornings, try to: Eat something that doesnt take any time to prepare, like a glass of pre-squeezed fruit juice, a couple of pieces of fresh fruit or a tub of low-fat yoghurt. Even last nights left-over stir fry is a better option than eating nothing at all. Prepare your breakfast the night before. Lay your cereal packet, dish, spoon or toast condiments on the breakfast bar of your kitchen so they are ready to go first thing in the morning. Do two things at once. Try doing something within your morning routine, like ironing a blouse or shirt for example, while your toast is browning in the toaster. (Try not to do two things at once while youre eating, youll eat too quickly and your digestion will be affected. If you have no choice, fine eat anyway, but try not to do this too often). Have a least something to eat no matter how small and take the rest of your breakfast with you. Drink a breakfast smoothie and take your favourite breakfast cereal to work with you in a plastic container for example. If you are in a rush to get somewhere, eat something as soon as you get there. If youre meeting someone, meet them in a caf or coffee shop. If you are always in a rush to get to work, leave a breakfast cereal in your office kitchen or in a drawer in your desk. Morning exercise is not as effective without breakfast Most people like to exercise in the morning for the very same reason they should eat breakfast, to raise there metabolism and burn extra calories. If you exercise in the morning on an empty stomach, your metabolism wont reach the same heights it would if you ate something before hand. What if you dont like to exercise on a full stomach? Ideally we shouldnt really work out until an hour or two after your breakfast (or any other meal), but if you like exercising in the morning or its the only time you have, a glass of fruit juice or small piece of fruit beforehand will give your metabolism the spark it needs to maximize the calories burnt during your exercise. Remember, you dont need to eat a three course meal to get your metabolism going in the morning, even something small like a banana or fruit smoothie will get it going. Im not hungry when I wake up If youre not hungry when you wake up, chances are you are eating too much the night before. Its OK to eat right up until you go to bed at night, but if you are going to do this make sure you eat something light with not too much sugar, natural or otherwise, which is likely to affect your ability to get to sleep. Good night-time snack choices include: A bowl of cereal made of whole-grains or bran An apple Reduced fat cheese A small turkey and lettuce sandwich A small tub of yogurt and berries A fruit smoothie or scoop of frozen yogurt A warm cup of milk or hot chocolate I just cant stomach food first thing in the morning If you feel like this regularly find something you can stomach or leave breakfast until after youve showered and are ready for the day ahead. Eating breakfast is so important (especially when trying to lose weight) that it is well worth the time and effort to experiment with breakfast alternatives until you find something you can eat. Here are some possible choices: Milk and whole-grain cereal, or yogurt and cereal Instant oats topped with raisins Whole-grain bagel topped with fruit and yogurt Peanut butter on whole-wheat toast Fruit smoothie made with yogurt Fruit cocktail, with orange juice, strawberries, pears and pineapple Cheese and whole-grain crackers Muesli bar or commercially made breakfast drink Remember, when it comes to eating breakfast and getting your metabolism going it is more important that you eat than what you eat. Once youre used to eating breakfast regularly, then try weaning yourself on to healthier options. Laser Surgery For Stretch Marks
By Marcus Peterson Stretch marks are caused due to excessive stretching of the skin as a result of rapid weight gain. The skin, being elastic, stretches in order to accommodate this new body volume. At some point, though, the skin will reach the limit of its ability to stretch and the deepest layer will break. The surface skin remains undamaged when this happens, but will appear to be thin and striated. These striations are known as stretch marks, and once created, they will remain permanently. Opinions on whether laser surgery can actually remove stretch marks or not is divided. One school of thought concedes that there is no evidence in support of the theory that laser treatments can remove stretch marks. Here is why: lasers are supposedly useful in eliminating, vaporizing and breaking down tissue. They are not capable of repairing tissue, as it were. Since stretch marks are a sign of broken tissue, they cannot be fixed by laser therapy. According to them, there is proof from clinical research that stretch marks are not treatable through laser therapy. However, there is another school of thought which says that stretch marks are a purely cosmetic issue and can be treated as such. They say that cosmetic lasers are a new method of eradicating stretch marks because lasers can stimulate the production of collagen, which will fill these marks from below. The energy of the laser is, theoretically speaking, soaked up by the dermis, stimulating the manufacture of fresh collagen. This new collagen thickens and fills the stretch marks bottom up. Apparently, no pain is to be experienced from the procedure. For the first couple of days post-treatment, the area could turn a little pink, as in the case of mild sunburn. Subsequent treatments will darken the skin, and no bleeding or bruising has to be dealt with. However, even they admit that such treatment does not make the skin look one hundred percent normal. Improvement is a question of degrees, and can vary greatly from person to person. First Date Question - How Can I Avoid the Conversation Dead Zone and Keep From Striking Out?
By Jennifer L. Hunt The Question "I get stuck trying to start the conversation. Absolute silence drives me crazy. The ice breaker that I say usually ends up being something really stupid." - Anonymous The Honest Answer We've all been there before - that awkward silence that occurs when you've just met someone and have no idea what to say... Just picture this in your mind... You've just met someone new and you're a little unsure what to say to make a good first impression. Maybe you're a little shy and a lot nervous! Maybe you're just tired from a long day at the office. Regardless, you're completely stuck and cannot think of a single intelligent thing to say. To make matters worse, your date isn't saying anything either. It's the "FIRST DATE DEAD ZONE!" - Help! Someone say something... anything... Quick! Is your fax machine more articulate that you? No, your fax machine simply has an established protocol for first dates. Think back to the last time you faxed a document to someone. Your fax machine makes a connection to the other fax machine, and then you hear all kinds of gibberish before the document starts going through. Did you ever wonder what that's all about? Well, the two fax machines are basically saying hello and setting the tone of the conversation, how fast they're going to talk, what language they are going to use, and how long they're going to chat. It's very similar to those first few minutes with your date. You're getting to know a brand new person You're getting used to their speech patterns and body language You're figuring out their sense of humor (which can in and of itself change the tone of the conversation completely) You're trying to determine their intentions. Are they really friendly? Can you trust them? Do the mean you any harm? Do you really, really like them? You simply need to implement your own personal first date protocol. It's important to remember that WHAT is said during those first few minutes doesn't really matter. What is important is to establish that initial, friendly connection with the other person. Here are some communication 101 tips for getting started on the right foot. Be friendly and genuinely nice Show concern for the other person's feelings Truly listen to them - look them in the eyes (I know that's a tough one but you can do it.) That's great, but what do I say? Is there a canned ice breaker for every occasion? Not exactly, but there's always something you can say to alleviate the awkward silence. These ideas should work in most first date situations. Ask about their day... How was it? Ask about their work... What do they do? How do they like it? Inquire about pets and children. How many? Names? Ages? Do they have anything that they like to do when they're not working? Hobbies? Sports? Etc. I know these sound rather generic, but the idea behind these simple questions is to find something that you both enjoy and feel comfortable talking about. Hopefully, you will find some things that you have in common. However, it is important to not get too personal too fast . Show interest, and ask further probing questions, but don't be too intrusive. You don't want to scare the other person off. So why do we freeze up on the first date? In most cases, that uncomfortable silence (which can often cause panic for some), is based on fear. Yes, fear... Fear that you'll say something really stupid Fear that you'll have nothing in common Fear that the other person won't like you Fear of being put on the spot to perform How do you overcome YOUR fear? Although there isn't a magic formula that will save you every time, there is a solution to your problem. Take a little time before your date to come up with a few simple and general questions that you can ask or compliments that you might be able to make. Write them down on a piece of paper. Keep the piece of paper in your wallet or purse. You don't necessarily have to look at it - just having it with you and knowing that it's there will help you remember. If you get really stuck, excuse yourself to the restroom and look at your cheat sheet. When you return, you will surely impress your date with your thoughtful and caring questions. Permanent Relief for Ingrown Toenails
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Marc_A_Katz,_DPM] Marc A Katz, DPM What is an ingrown toenail? An ingrown toenail is simply a curving of the nail border into the flesh of the toe. When the pressure from the curved or deformed nail becomes excessive, the underlying skin or tissue is pierced or opened and this provides entry for harmful bacteria. It is common for bacteria to be around the nail without an infection. However, when the skin breaks and these bacteria enter the area, a bacterial infection begins. Ingrown nails can also result from the development of fungus in the nails which cause deformity and secondary bacterial infection. Some people will not get an infection initially but will just have pain and redness. Signs of an infection include pain, redness, swelling, foul odor and yellow drainage. Many people develop ingrown toenail infections on a regular basis. These are often treated with soaking and antibiotic pills. Typically, these treatments only provide short term relief. If the infection has been present for a long period, x-rays may be taken to make sure there is no bone infection. Bone infection is a serious problem and must be treated in other ways. Also, those with poor circulation can develop gangrene from an infection. It is highly recommended that the patient with these conditions seek early treatment to avoid more serious conditions. Generally, ingrown nails present problems multiple times over a period of months or years. Initially, there is pain and redness which then results in infection. Why some treatments provide only temporary relief: Why is only short term relief provided with these seemingly strong treatments? While there is an infection present, it can not be healed without draining the infection or abscess from the side of the toe where the nail is piercing the skin. This piece of nail acts as a foreign body and must be removed for proper healing. Unfortunately, many people seek treatment for these problems and are treated for months with antibiotics and never heal until they see a Podiatrist for removal of the piece of nail and drainage of the infection. The removal of the nail portion and drainage of the infection should actually be the first treatment received. All other treatments, including antibiotic pills or creams and soaking, are secondary to what is known as incision and drainage or drainage of infection. Treatments are often done by you, the patient. This is known as bathroom surgery and is often performed with various homemade instruments. Often relief will be obtained but eventually many patients end up seeking professional help due to excessive pain and infection. It should be noted that often after drainage of the infection, oral antibiotics are not always necessary. The problem with taking antibiotics over and over for this condition is that the bacteria modify themselves so that the antibiotic no longer works and antibiotic resistance is the result. How can I get permanent relief from Ingrown Toenails? Assuming that the infection is controlled and circulation is adequate for healing, there are procedures to remove the ingrown nail permanently. Normally only a small portion of nail is removed, not the complete nail. The result is cosmetically pleasing once full healing has occurred. There is a 95% success rate! There are several methods for the permanent procedure. The most common method is using a chemical for the destruction of the nail root or growth area, also known as the matrix. Common chemicals used include phenol and sodium hydroxide. After removal of the abnormal nail portion, the chemical is then used to destroy the root. A light bandage is applied. Care at home is simple and recovery involves cleaning the area and applying antibiotic cream. Most people have minimal pain after the procedure. Some redness, swelling and clear drainage are normal for several weeks to a month depending on the individual reaction to the chemical. There are rarely complications, however, as with any procedure you physician will review possible complications. So, there is no need to suffer with ingrown nails when you can have this procedure. The procedure is safe and performed in the office with a local anesthetic. The procedure takes about 10-15 minutes. 125% Equity Home Loans
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Levetta_Rivera]Levetta Rivera If you are a homeowner in need of a home equity loan but you have not yet built up any equity in your home, don't despair. A 125 percent equity home loan may be the answer. A 125 percent equity home loan is a second mortgage loan that allows you to borrow up to 25% more than the value of your home. For example, if your home is worth $100,000 and you owe $100,000 on the mortgage, this loan program would allow you to still borrow up to $25,000. The 125 percent equity home loan is offered by various online lenders. Each lender has their own qualification and loan term guidelines but generally this is a credit score driven loan program. Credit score driven means that you have to have a certain credit score to qualify for the loan. In addition, your credit score usually determines the maximum loan amount you may qualify for and the maximum cash in hand you may receive. Also, some 125 percent equity home loan lenders may require seasoning on the length of time you have lived in your home. Three months is normally the minimum. When it comes to a property appraisal, most 125 percent home equity loan lenders do not require you to obtain one. They generally will use the purchase price of your home as the value if you have lived in your residence for 12 months or less. If you have lived in your home over 12 months, a recent tax assessment, simple drive-by appraisal, or automated value model (avm) can be used. An avm is a computer generated assessment of your home's value which is based on recent home sales of comparable houses in your neighborhood. Japanese Cuisine
By Michael Russell Japanese cuisine is known around the world for its distinctive taste and appearance. Aesthetically pleasing displays of the varied dishes are considered just as important as the food itself. The mood of the season can often be felt in the dishes and they should give a sense of visual satisfaction. Each Japanese dish is artfully arranged in individual bowls, plates and dishes for each person. Often, all courses are presented at one time and eaten in no particular order. Japan is surrounded by the sea and consists principally of four main islands. Her total size, location and population, all combine to demand that much of the people's food come from the ocean and her world roving fishing fleets supply that need admirably. It is estimated that the average Japanese consumes 70lbs of seafood per year. Among the various methods of fish preparation, the most popular are to fry, or present them raw, as in sashimi or sushi. Perhaps sushi, bite sized pieces of fresh fish pressed onto a ball of vinegared rice and tempura, shrimp and vegetable coated with an egg batter and deep fried, are best known to westerners. Meat dishes were introduced in the last century as a new 'western cuisine'. Japanese culinary tradition has been much influenced by that of Korea and China. Buddhism arrived via Korea in the 6th century and the eating of meat was discouraged. Chopsticks and soy sauce came from China in the 8th century. The introduction to Japan of Zen Buddhism in the 13th century held as one of its tenets strict adherence to vegetarianism and the consumption of meat was banned until about a hundred years ago. During the course of her long history, nearly every part of Japan developed its own delightful regional food specialties and the people became skilled in preparing a number of beef dishes. Sukiyaki is one of the most widely enjoyed of such distinctive Japanese dished. Today, Japanese restaurants are spreading throughout the USA and the rest of the world. In spite of the fact that many people enjoy Japanese foods, they may be reluctant to try making them at home. Perhaps it is because of they lack the knowledge and skills necessary, or feel hindered by the limited availability of ingredients. Japanese cooking doesn't have to be a complicated task. There are many one-pot dishes, cooked at the table somewhat like fondue and these tend to create an intimate and cosy setting. Preparation orderly beforehand at the table of utensils and ingredients leaves you time to enjoy your company, rather than being stuck in the kitchen. There are many cookery books in the shops dedicated to helping the uninitiated prepare, cook and serve the most delicious of Japanese dishes (also suggesting alternative ingredients if you cannot find the original in your local grocery store) and therefore amazing guests and family alike. My favorite books are the ones that give serving suggestions and appropriate table etiquette. Follow the directions and you can be assured of consistently good results and bring a little of Japan into your home. The Cultural Beauty of a Celtic Engagement Ring
By Brian Welsch The beauty, intricate designs and symbolism of the Claddagh engagement ring and other Celtic engagement rings has built a following among many young couples today. In a world of turmoil, confusion and duplicity, many of the younger generations are revisiting their roots for direction and guidance. The Irish community is rich in mythology, spiritualism and cultural beliefs. The Celtic engagement ring is a sign of deeply held family customs and beliefs. A Sentimental Gift is Found in the Celtic Engagement Ring The Celtic engagement rings are known for the sentiment that is symbolized in each ring. The designer usually bases the design of each ring on a wedding sentiment such as "love for all eternity", "tying the knot" and some other sentiments of love. Then the ring is designed to match and is named after the emotion or sentiment. Most rings have some sort of knot shape or combination of knots to symbolize the union of two lives. The most popular style of Celtic engagement ring is the Claddagh engagement ring. The Claddagh is Rich in Irish Folklore The Claddagh is the symbol for the Republic of Ireland, a design that is deeply embedded in the Irish folklore. The image on the ring is that of two hands surrounding a heart with a royal crown placed directly above the heart. The design symbolizes the welcoming hands of a marriage union; a strong and loving heart and the crown represent the proud people of Ireland. Many Believe Irish Design isn't "Irish" Unless it's Made in Ireland There is a common held belief that jewelry made in the Irish design isn't real if it wasn't made in Ireland. There are specific regions in Ireland that are responsible for custom design. So a couple shopping for the symbolism, sentiment and beauty of a true Celtic engagement ring would want to access Irish internet web sites or a visit to a jeweler of Irish heritage. However, keep in mind that in many traditional Irish circles, it is considered bad manners to wear the Claddagh if you are not of Irish descent. The Claddagh Engagement Ring is Rich in the Irish Culture The Claddagh Celtic engagement ring usually doubles as the wedding band. While the Claddagh engagement ring is available in a wide variety of styles, the specification to how it is to be worn is absolute. The importance of Claddagh Celtic engagement ring is significant with how it is worn on the young woman's hand. When a woman wears a Claddagh ring, she must turn the heart inwards if she is unmarried and change the direction of the heart upon becoming betrothed. The heart facing outward tells the world that she is bound is marriage and has given her heart away. Toenail Fungus Tea Tree Oil Remedy
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_Bloom] David Bloom For many people with toenail fungus tea tree oil is like a magic potion. Anecdotal stories abound of people who have used this essential oil to treat fungal nail infections. It is one of the popular natural healing alternatives to expensive oral prescription drugs feared for their possible side effects, and it is readily available because it is also used as a natural healing treatment for other conditions. Bottled tea tree oil for fungus comes from an Australian tree, Melaleuca alternifolia, commonly called the Tea Tree. It is being investigated for its abilities to kill bacteria, fungi, yeasts and viruses, and there is some evidence that it may indeed be an appropriate weapon against toenail fungus; tea tree oil may soon take its place beside the currently accepted prescription medications for this condition. Tea tree oil for fungus infections can be purchased from homeopathic and alternative medicine suppliers. In preparations specifically for toenail fungus, tea tree oil may be only one of the ingredients: in many cases it is blended with other essential oils believed to have some effectiveness against nail fungus. Other supplements to tea tree oil toenail fungus treatment include DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide), vaseline (mixed 50/50), Vicks VapoRub, iodine, and apple cider vinegar taken orally (dont take tea tree oil orally!). These treatments all come under the heading of home remedies: no scientific studies validate their effectiveness. Before using toenail fungus tea tree oil treatment, visit your doctor and get a proper diagnosis. Other things can cause toe nails and finger nails to discolor and become thickened or deformed. These things include injury, bacterial growth, skin conditions and other issues. If the problem is not toenail fungus, tea tree oil probably will not help and you will have wasted time and money. If your doctor confirms that the problem is a fungus (you may need to have a nail sample collected and sent to the laboratory for a definitive answer), then it may be worth trying the tea tree oil toenail fungus remedy. Talk to your doctor about your options. A doctor can provide current information on the prescription drug choices for toenail fungus, and advise you about the cost of treatment and risk of side effects. He or she may also be able to discuss the treatment successes and failures of other patients. Learn about the options and weigh the pros and cons before deciding whether or not to use toenail fungus tea tree oil remedy. David Bloom is an avid health enthusiast and a regular contributor to a variety of health websites. He is the author of [http://www.nail-fungus-treatment.blogspot.com] Toenail Fungus Tea Tree Oil Treatment, a blog dedicated to the treatment of fingernail and toenail fungus. How To Save Money On Used Car Auto Loans
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jim_Johnson]Jim Johnson Having to finance the purchase of a new or pre-owned vehicle is just a fact of life for most people today. In fact it is estimated that almost 4 out of every five people who buy a vehicle have to make some kind of auto financing arrangements to do so. And that is not surprising either, given the fact that cars are one of the most expensive items that the average person will buy in their lifetime. Also the monthly payments made for a typical used car auto loan consumes around 20% of the entire monthly budget for the family. That means then that over the course of several years consumers are paying huge sums of money out on their auto loans. So it's important to pay attention when arranging for financing to try to get the best auto loan rates that you can and therefore save as much money as possible when you do. Here are some ways to save money on your car loans: * Understand very clearly in advance how much money you can afford to spend on a car loan without overextending your self. To do this, add up all your average monthly expenditures and subtract them from your net income each month. This figure will give give you an overall idea of how much you have left to comfortably fit in a car payment. Just be sure that you don't stretch yourself too thin and have nothing left over for emergencies. * Keeping your credit history as spotless as possible as you go will mean an awful lot when it comes tome to get any type of loan, but especially an auto loan. Your credit score is determined by how well you have paid your bills on time in the past and how much overall debt you are currently carrying along with other factors too. So make sure that you are careful to keep your credit score high and remove any errors that may show up so you can qualify for the best auto loan rates each time you buy a car. * Shopping around for used car auto loans is vital to get the best deal possible. You will find that as you do, the loans you are offered will probably vary quite a bit from company to company. so the more quotes you get the more chance you have of getting the best loan deal possible for you. And don't forget online auto financing options here either as the internet can be a great way to shop for the best auto loan rates quickly and easily. * In many cases it's good to arrange your car financing separate from the sale of the car and avoid dealer financing altogether. This is because dealers often see the loan as another way to make money on selling you the car, and because loan contracts are so difficult to understand there are lots of places where the dealer can hide their extra profits that you will be paying for. So try to get your loan arrangements all set up in advance. If you wish you can allow the dealer to compete with the loans that you already have in place, but if you do, you will be bargaining from a position of strength and the deal will not hinge on what the dealer offers you. These simple suggestions can add up to tremendous savings for the average consumer over their driving lifetime. So consider them the next time you are thinking about getting used car auto loans that will save you money. Jim Johnson writes on many consumer related topics including autos. Face Painting Ideas
By Julian Bates Face painting can be very enjoyable indeed as an activity, both for the artist as well as for the person being painted on. Infact, this art is slowly gaining in popularity in mainstream life with a demand for skilled painters for a number of events and venues across the broad social spectrum. This ranges from the average face painter spotted at a commonplace house party to those present at a high profile event such as a brand launch to those having their own space at the venue of large social gatherings such as shopping malls, amusement parks and restaurants. And mind you, it’s a fairly decent and legitimate way for a budding or struggling artist to sustain himself today because people are constantly looking for ways to entertain better. The face painter most definitely fits into the scheme of things. So if you’re a budding or aspiring artist who has only just set out on this unconventional journey, where do you begin? Naturally it goes without saying that the first thing you will need is paints and brushes. But you cannot buy just any paint off the shelves of a hardware store. You have to use special paints complying with the safety standards as specified by American regulatory authorities for the purpose as these will be applied on the tender, sensitive skin of the face, many of which will be that of children. Only a few companies produce the same but that doesn’t mean that the raw material is scarce. What about brushes? Just like the paints, these have to be of fine quality too. Synthetic brushes with soft bristles are most preferred for the purpose, as they have to be gentle on delicate facial skin. The point or tip of the brush on the other hand would depend on the intricacy and detail of the work, the smaller and thinner the point, the more intricate the work. Face paints are water based which necessitates the dipping of the brush into water each time a color has to be changed. This also allows for easy removal of the paint from the face by using just soap and water. Now that you have a fair understanding of the nuances of the trade, where do you go for the essence, the designs? You don’t have to go very far at all. At this point, your powers of observation and imagination would suffice but the common designs especially among the children are animal prints and designs. Sadly, the most popular and appealing is the devil in different hues, contours and forms. So all the best in your newfound trade or hobby. Whatever the calling, you have most definitely made a good choice. 5 Ways To Influence The Way Your Teen Dresses
By Christina Botto For most of the country, March means warmer weather and fewer clothes. Sweaters and coats are exchanged with short sleeves and shorts or skirts. Arms, legs, and body are exposed to the warmth of the sun - and the eyes of young men. Parent's worries increase at the same rate their teen's clothing decreases. Telling our teen not to wear a particular outfit, not to dress so revealing, or to cover up will most likely be responded with: "It's the hottest thing this spring!" or "That's what today's teens wear!" - making us feel old and out of the loop. Fortunately there are quite a few things parents can do when it comes to the way your teen dresses: Know what's hot - visit web sites such as: Teenfashionista - a blog monitored by Casey featuring fashion trends, styles, and shopping advice for teens. Fashionclub - an excellent web site for the teen who wants more than just the latest trends. It has a fashion club and a career studio which is affiliated with the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Both of these web sites have fashions for girls as well as boys. Look at your teen's magazines and discuss models and clothing. Help your teen to decide which types of clothing would fit best with their individual body type. Visit web sites that give advice on which clothing fits what body type with your teen. Two web sites I found very helpful are: Fashion Tips Buy Clothes to suit Your Shape - for girls Ask Andy About Clothes - for boys Go shopping with your teen. Spend a day at the mall trying on all kinds of different outfits, even those you do not intend to buy, wear, or would not be "caught dead" in. Comment on how the outfits look, and what you do or do not like about them. Besides having a day with a lot of laughs, you will also have the opportunity to find out about your teen's taste in clothes. You will learn which tops and bottoms your daughter finds too revealing, and give you the opportunity to listen and to learn about your teens opinions. You also will have the chance to reinforce moral standards while creating fond memories that will last a lifetime. Fathers - explain to your daughter that the way she dresses does affect how boys perceive her. It is not necessary to paint an ugly picture, but girls need the male perspective to understand the feelings they evoke in boys when dressing provocatively. Make it an interactive conversation, giving her ample time and opportunity to ask questions. This is a great opportunity for a dad to protect his daughter and show her how much he cares about her. She will also be more aware of the opposite gender and be careful not to provoke them or tease them in any other way. Christina Botto has been involved with helping parents and teenagers resolve complicated issues for more than 14 years, observing and developing parenting strategies. Her dedication to helping parents inspired her to write her book, Help Me With My Teenager! A Step-by-step Guide for Parents that Works. Parenting your teenager doesn't have to be frustrating - visit Parenting A Teenager, where parents can find Christina's articles and her book, news for Education K-12 and College, LIVE Counseling, and a variety of other tools and resources for both communicating with their teen and helping parents deal with issues they are struggling with.
